Health Check/Guarantee

Nose-to-Tail Health Check

While we can’t guarantee that your puppy will never have a health problem, we can promise we will do our best to ensure your new family member is healthy from the moment he or she arrives home

>Every puppy receives a nose totail check before coming  home

The Health of Your Puppy is Our Primary Concern

It all starts with choosing our breeders. We carefully screen our breeders and only work with those who meet our industry-leading standards. Once a breeder has been accepted into our community, we continue to ensure that they are raising healthy puppies by requiring comprehensive health evaluations for every puppy they place through PuppySpot.

Comprehensive Health Evaluations

Each breeder is required to keep their puppies up-to-date on all vaccinations and deworming. Every puppy must pass a comprehensive nose-to-tail health evaluation by the breeder’s licensed veterinarian before they travel home to their new families. The results of this health evaluation are reported through our mandatory Veterinary Health Report (VHR).

Certified by a third-party, licensed veterinarian, the VHR requires an examination of a puppy’s ears, eyes, mouth, teeth, gums, respiratory system, cardiovascular system, musculoskeletal system, skin and coat, gastrointestinal system, and external genitalia. We also strongly encourage new puppy owners to take their puppy to the vet as close to arrival as safely possible. Your new pup will have just changed environments from breeder to your home, and getting a checkup right away helps to ensure that change goes as smoothly as possible.

We are committed to the health of your puppy

Our Health Commitment

Before bringing a puppy home, it’s important to know that owning a puppy means frequent visits to a veterinarian and that you will be responsible for all costs associated with such veterinarian visits.

We do everything we can to make sure your puppy is as healthy as possible when she arrives, but puppies are living breathing animals which means health issues do arise despite our best efforts.

What does the PuppySpot commitment cover?

Our commitment covers health issues that may arise after the arrival of your puppy. This commitment only covers puppies who are delivered [and have continually resided] within the United States and/or Canada.  For complete details, please read our Terms and Conditions of Commitment.

Days 1-14

If your puppy is found to have a contagious disease, illness, or parasite, PuppySpot will provide you with reimbursement of reasonable and customary veterinary bills to treat such condition up to the purchase price of your puppy.

Year 1

If your dog is found and certified to have a congenital or hereditary condition which adversely affects the health of the dog by a major insurance provider, PuppySpot will provide reimbursement of reasonable, documented, insurance deductible and copay.  Please see our Terms and Conditions of Commitment for details

Years 2-10

For all breeds EXCEPT English Bulldogs, if your dog is found and certified by two veterinarians to have a congenital or hereditary condition which adversely affects the health of your dog, PuppySpot shall issue a credit toward the purchase of another puppy in the amount of reasonable, documented, actually incurred veterinary expenses associated with such diagnosed condition up to fifty percent of the purchase price of your puppy or, if you choose, a reimbursement of such amounts up to twenty-five percent of the purchase price of your puppy.

Every puppy is at the heart of our beliefs and mission of placing healthy puppies into loving homes. The health of your puppy is a big deal. It is as important to you as it is to us! While we would love to guarantee your puppy will be happy and healthy for as long as you both shall live, a number of factors not always within our control contribute to the overall health of your new family member. In addition to your love and companionship, feeding a balanced and nutritious diet, exercise and regular vet visits are measures you should take as a responsible pet owner to keep your puppy healthy.

Even though we can’t ensure your puppy will never have a health problem, we promise we have done everything possible to make sure your new puppy is healthy when he or she is welcomed into your home! This is because we work with a network of honest and reputable breeders where puppies are raised with love and compassion. Our breeders are pre-screened and hand-picked to ensure their puppies are raised with tender loving care, socialization, exercise, comfort and affection, and proper veterinarian care. In order to meet our strict standards, every puppy has undergone an extensive veterinary health check and each breeder has followed our vaccination and de-worming protocols in an effort to ensure the puppy departs the breeder healthy and happy.
